BASS FANATICS
2023
RULES (additions or changes in bold)
MEMBERSHIP
Charter membership is $25. Charter members have full voting privileges. Charter members will be limited to 26. Charter members own $25 of startup money. That money will be repaid if the member leaves the club for any reason, other than membership revocation. If a Charter member is lost for any reason, the voting rights will not be passed on to any other member. If enough Charter members are lost in the future, the remaining Charter members will vote to adopt new Charter members or alter the voting rules for membership.
Dues renewals for current members will be $15. New members will be $25. Dues must be paid 1 week prior to fishing a weekly tournament, or 1 month (or the previous monthly tournament)prior to fishing for monthly tournaments.
Regular membership is $25 for new and $15 for renewal. Regular members can vote on date and lakes of tournaments. These members may need to be voted on by Charter members. If a current member recommends them, and they pay the $25 and no current member has a complaint, they automatically become regular members. If there is a complaint, the charter members will make a final decision regarding the potential member’s status.
Charter members may vote by mail, email, phone, text (608-604-2801) or in person.
Charter and regular memberships can be revoked by a 3/4 vote of Charter members. A non-probationary, nonmember guest can fish for an extra fee. The club reserves the right to refuse to allow any nonmember the right to fish.
Meetings will be held after some monthly tournaments (at the landing) and 2-3 times during the off season. The off season meeting locations will be announced ahead of time.
GOVERNANCE
The Governance Committee will consist of 7-8 members. The committee will have 6-7 members selected in the off season each year. The Vice Chairman from the previous year will be automatically installed as Chairman. The 2022 Chairman is Cory Wohlrab. The current committee consists of Tom Greene, JJ Dahl, Brian Peper, Cody Biermeier, Wes Husker, Jon Brock, Tom Greene, Jeff Johnson, and Cory Wohlrab.
The Governance Committee will be responsible for the general oversight of the club and for rule change recommendations.
The Chairman or Chairman Elect will oversee meetings and take meeting minutes. Any committee member can perform these duties in the absence of both officers.
For monthly tournaments, members will vote for lakes to be fished. A list of lakes will be distributed. Write-ins will be allowed. Governance Committee members will select dates and times based on these votes. Voting can be in absentia (even if you are absent). The second place lake for each month, based on member votes, will be the backup lake for each month in case a change is needed. These backup lakes will be listed on the website.
BASIC FISHING RULES
1. Have fun!
2. No drinking or drugs before or during tournaments.
3. Follow all state laws for the body of water you are fishing.
4. Use common sense and courtesy when determining how much room to give other anglers while fishing. This includes non-tournament anglers. We will use our judgment and disqualify discourteous participants.
5. If you get a ticket you are disqualified. If you are reported by any other tournament angler for breaking state laws, club rules or being discourteous, any Rules Committee members present will meet to discuss punishment, up to disqualification. More than one such disqualification may result in expulsion from the club.
6. You will not be disqualified for boat trouble, including gas motor, trolling motor, or electrical issues if you report your issue to another tournament angler before scheduled quitting time. If another angler tows you in and you are both late, you may both still weigh your bags. In this instance, it would also be ok to transfer your fish to another boat and ride in with them.
7. PFDs must be worn if the boat is on plane.
8. Late Boats at the end of fishing will be disqualified. Cell phone time will be used. Late is when the time changes to quitting time.
For example, on Tuesday night, when the cell changes from 8:59 to 9:00.
9. A short fish will disqualify the entire catch. There is a courtesy bump allowed. The angler may bump his or her fish on the club board and decide if they want to include the fish in the catch. The official weigh master will then bump the fish and make the final call.
10. Take offs will be determined by a draw 15 minutes prior to takeoff time. Boats will be released 1-20 according to that draw. If you arrive after the draw, you will take off at the end. If you don't stay near the weigh in site to learn your number, you will take off at the end.
Take-off may be slow no wake or delayed due to weather.
11. You are liable for your own boat and are liable for damages incurred during any tournament.
12. We do not allow more than 19 boats per tournament. Tournaments are fished on a first come, first serve basis with the following exceptions:
If more than 19 boats show up to fish, the following actions will be taken to stay under the limit of 19. Any single anglers will be combined into teams. These are team events, and while we are fine with single anglers, no teams will be sent away to allow single anglers to fish. If this step doesn't solve the problem, any non-members present will not be allowed to fish. Under no circumstances will a member in good standing be sent home while a non-member is allowed to fish Charter Members cannon be sent away. After 10 tournaments, any anglers from a team in the top ten in points cannot be sent away.
TOURNAMENTS
1. Team tournaments (team consists of 2 people, but 3 or 4 will be allowed as long as only 2 anglers are 16 or older). A nonmember may fish only with a paid member. At least one angler in the boat must be a paid member. Non Members must pay and additional $10 above the entry fee for any tournament they fish. That money will go to the club.
2. Five fish limit per boat.

5. The tournament director will be chosen at each tournament by a drawing. The Tournament director will be determined by the draw for takeoff. Whichever boat draws the last position will be the takeoff boat and the weigh master. That member, and their partner, will be responsible for the operation of that tournament. One partner will be official time and watch for late boats at the end of fishing. They will share measuring and weighing duties. If the member drawn is fishing alone, another name will be drawn to help, or a volunteer will be taken. The tournament director has final say on rules violations. On monthly tournaments, the drawn boat will be given a free entry ($30). If that boat has two partners they decide if and how to split it up.
6. Monthly tournaments $30 per person (two big bass places included: $3 for big bass and $2 for 2nd big bass) It is allowed that an angler can win both big bass prizes. Dead fish may not be weighed for Big Bass prizes. The weighmaster will determine whether the fish is alive or dead. You are responsible for proper handling of your dead fish. Take them home or give them to another angler. Do not throw them back in the lake.
a. Pay out amount is based on the number of boats. 100% payout. Number of places paid will be four places.
